This review has been a long time coming. Since discovering this place 2-3 years ago, it has become (literally) my EVERYDAY SPOT for lunch--Monday through Friday. Super friendly and professional staff, excellent location, clean space, happy atmosphere, excellent menu options--both traditional and creative Mexican offerings, great prices*, and THE FRESHEST ALL-NATURAL INGREDIENTS & MOST FLAVORFUL, DELICIOUS, & HEALTHY FOOD you'll find for lunch in the city of Chicago. Period.
(I challenge anyone to prove me wrong.)
My go-to choices are (a) the BAJA SALAD with chicken, red salsa, a little bit of habañero salsa, and all the toppings**, (b) the BURRITO with chicken, red salsa, a little bit of habañero salsa, and all the toppings**, and (c) chips & guac.
*Where else can you eat lunch in Chicago for under $10 these days?
**Avocado is included at no extra charge.
PRO TIP: The ladies there love to speak Spanish with you, so if you want to dust off your high school 'Spanish 3', start speaking to them en español, and they'll take it from there! -

If you're looking for authentic fast Mexican food in the loop area, look no further. Move over Qdoba, Habanero has you beat. And don't even get me started on Chipotle.... they don't even make the top 3 list... Anyway, back to my review. This place is awesome! Very authentic burrito bowls, with shrimp, pork, beef or chicken. They also sell tamales on certain days and also caldos in the winter. They sell elotes too! Don't forget to try their horchata - it's delicious! The good thing about this place is that you can make it in and out of here very quickly. Everything is ready-made and still fresh! There is a small dining area here, but if you go during the week it gets PACKED by 11:45. Get here early and snag a seat! They play bachata music too, so everything feels even more authentic... Yeah Habanero, I'm hooked on you.

Stopped by for lunch with coworkers. I got the burrito bowl with chicken. I also asked for fajita veggies which was a nice touch. After making these selections they ask you what type of salsa. I went medium. At this point you should also tell them if you want sour cream. I waited until the end and it ended up a smeared mess on the top to the bowl. There are a couple other veggie options along with cheese. Guac is an upcharge.
Overall it's a good, fast lunch alternative if you are working near the loop with a chipotle concept. -

Tacos, tacos and more tacos. This is my second time here...I had the fish and chicken tacos...how can you ruin tacos?? you can't...parking can be tight and the lunch time crowd make it very hard to get in other than that...it's a great place to eat and I'll be back

Delicious shrimp tacos, chipotle what? Who? And the women working the counter are warm and friendly in a business rushed lunchtime environment! I can't wait to have lunch there again!
It's definitely a go to spot, stop in early and beat the lunch rush, ignore 500 Madison, those fast food joints have nothing on habanero.
